BIM for Manufacturers

A building is an assembly of products (fixtures, structural members, studs, doors, windows, concrete, gypsum board, etc.). A BIM model is a virtual assembly of BIM Product Models. The BIM model is a "digital double" of the physical building - a 2D or 3D, searchable, seekable, schedule-able Building Information Model.

When you design, engineer, and construct with BIM you look through libraries to find the products you want to include and then insert the product model into the building model. As you insert product models into the BIM model the design takes shape. One weakness of BIM currently is the lack of products to insert into the model.

Satellier creates BIM Product Models for manufacturer’s product lines. Building product manufacturers that offer BIM Proudct Models early will reap a tremendous reward, as they will find their products in most designer’s projects. Designers do not want to delay their design process to personally create virtual product models; they welcome excellent pre-drawn virtual product models to insert into their projects.

Manufacturers have a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a leader in offering their products for insertion into the BIM model. BIM Product models are used in virtually every aspect of construction from the earliest stages of design development through shop drawing creation.

From construction logistics through facility management. BIM Product models offer the Building Product Manfuacturer an opportunity reap rewards throughout the building lifecycle simply by getting their product models into BIM Product Models formats.
